A moment of silence...

...For the New York Mets.

I'm shocked but not surprised.

After all, I'm a Mets fan. You get used to if after awhile...

It is indeed a sad day for all Met's fan's, both old and new. Allegiances do change to superior teams over time, but memories never change. Tigers/Cardinals World Series? Who can get into that one? No ring for Pedro. And as usual, no ring for the National League again this year.

SOME allegiances change, old man!

And yeah, it's been the big topic of conversation at work today.

I'm a known Mets fan in the office (I've got some paraphenalia up in my cube) and everyone's stopped by to offer their condolences and make the same basic complaints I have.

That is, how can Beltran, as the best hitter on the team (and arguably one of the best in the NL) watch strike three sail by with bases loaded, two outs and two strikes in the bottom of the ninth?

Especially knowing that the prior strikeout was with the same wicked curveball (which SL's closer is known for).

He should have at least tried to foul the thing off to defend the plate.

To go down without even swinging in that situation is ridiculous!
